Six DPP standards cited in the Official Journal
Implementing Decision (EU) 2026/1736. Conformity gives a presumption of conformity with ESPR Articles 10 and 11, to the extent the standards cover them.
The EU Central DPP Registry went live
Registry, test environment and guidelines. Implementing Regulation (EU) 2026/1778, in force since August 6, sets out how you register, not when. For batteries, that is February 18, 2027.
Operator verification takes time
You cannot register a passport until your organization is verified as an economic operator. Verification runs through a third party, so it carries a lead time. Start it well before the date you need it.

- February 18, 2027Battery passport Reg (EU) 2023/1542 Art. 77. Every EV battery, every light means of transport battery, and every industrial battery above 2 kWh. Lands on whoever places the battery on the EU market, not the cell maker. Fixed in law.
- May 24, 2027Permanent magnets CRMA Reg (EU) 2024/1252 Arts. 27 and 29. Any magnet over 0.2 kg in the assembly. Motor, pump, drive and appliance makers. Delegated act pending.
- 2027–2029Iron and steel, then textiles, tires and aluminum First ESPR delegated acts, expected 2026–27. Compliance roughly 18 months after adoption.
- Q4 2027 onwardConstruction products Reg (EU) 2024/3110 has applied since January 8, 2026, with penalties from January 8, 2027. The passport arrives per product family: standards and act expected Q4 2027, compliance 2028–29.
- September 23, 2029Detergents and surfactants Reg (EU) 2026/405, on a 42-month transition. Set in law.
- 2029–2031Furniture and mattresses Delegated acts expected from 2028.
